Players Who Have Beat Carlos Alcaraz This Year
- Daniil Medvedev: After winning the Australian Open and Qatar Open, Alcaraz's first loss came at Indian Wells. He had beaten Grigor Dimitrov, Arthur Rinderknech, Casper Ruud, and Cameron Norrie before falling to 2021 US Open champ Medvedev, who was on a nine-match winning streak. Medvedev said, "Carlos is an outstanding player, very tough to play against. I've lost to him many times, and probably will again." Medvedev later lost the final to Jannik Sinner.
- Sebastian Korda: In Miami Open's third round, Korda pulled off a surprise by beating Alcaraz 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. Ranked 36th then, Korda handed Alcaraz one of his unexpected defeats. Alcaraz responded by saying he felt the process was good despite the loss and that he was starting to feel better in recent tournaments.
- Jannik Sinner: The Monte Carlo Masters final decided both the tournament winner and the new world number one. Sinner beat Alcaraz, taking the top ranking from him. This victory marked Sinner’s third Masters 1000 title of the season, part of a five-win streak. Sinner remarked on the windy conditions and how much regaining No. 1 meant to him, especially winning on a surface new to him.
- Ben Shelton: America's rising star stunned Alcaraz in the US Open quarter-finals last month. Shelton, who had lost all three previous matches against Alcaraz, won 6-7, 6-1, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Shelton called it an "epic match" and praised Alcaraz as one of the greatest champions already at 23. Shelton advanced to his first major final after beating Frances Tiafoe but was defeated there by Alexander Zverev.
