Declan Rice Poised to Sign New Arsenal Contract Matching Bukayo Saka's Top Wages

Declan Rice Nears New Long-Term Deal with Arsenal

Arsenal are ready to reward Declan Rice with a new contract that will place him alongside Bukayo Saka as the club’s highest-paid players. The England international's salary is set for a significant boost following his consistent impact in midfield since joining the club.

Securing the Midfield Anchor

The Gunners have made great progress towards locking Rice down on a long-term agreement at the Emirates Stadium. Since his £105 million transfer from West Ham in summer 2023, Rice has become a key figure in Mikel Arteta's midfield setup, demonstrating leadership and quality.

• Appearances for Arsenal: 165 across all competitions
• Goals scored: 21
• Assists provided: 33

Rice’s current contract expires at the end of next season. Discussions about an extension began months ago, with talks now advanced and close to completion.

Matching Arsenal’s Top Earners

The new deal includes a pay rise from around £240,000 per week to nearly £350,000 per week. This will put Rice on par with Bukayo Saka, who holds the record as the club’s highest-paid player. By aligning their wages, Arsenal underline Rice's importance both tactically and as a presence in the dressing room.

Rice’s influence was crucial in last season’s Premier League title win—the club’s first since 2004—and their journey to the Champions League final, where they narrowly lost on penalties to Paris Saint-Germain.

Building on Stability Under Mikel Arteta

This contract move follows closely after Mikel Arteta secured his future by signing a four-year deal, adding stability to the club’s recent progress. Rice has started the new season strongly, appearing in seven matches and contributing two assists, both in Premier League games.

Current Season and Upcoming Fixture

Arsenal currently hold second place in the Premier League with 12 points from five games, three behind leaders Manchester City. After a tough 3-0 loss to Brighton, the team looks to bounce back when they face Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium.
