Fabio Pisacane Takes Aim at Luciano Spalletti After Full-Time Red Card in Cagliari's Draw with Juventus

Pisacane and Spalletti Both Sent Off Following Intense Match

Fabio Pisacane, head coach of Cagliari, was shown a red card alongside Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti after their Serie A clash ended in a 1-1 draw at the Unipol Domus. The confrontation erupted when Pisacane kicked the ball into the air before exchanging heated words with Spalletti.

Referee Matteo Marcenaro dismissed both coaches, meaning Pisacane will miss Cagliari's next match against Monza. Pisacane expressed regret about how the post-match handshake deteriorated into conflict.

Pisacane Suggests Juventus Were Nervous

Speaking about the incident, Pisacane claimed that Spalletti’s tension before and during the game showed that Juventus were uneasy facing Cagliari’s strong form this season. He told DAZN Italia:

"It could have ended with an embrace, I’m sorry it turned out this way. Spalletti seemed worried yesterday. If by Week 6 Juventus are already concerned about winning here, that means we are heading in the right direction."

He also mentioned that the halftime moments were unpleasant to witness but reiterated that respect could have prevailed instead of conflict.

Defending Cagliari’s Tactical Approach

Despite holding only 28 percent possession, Cagliari’s compact defensive strategy limited Juventus’s chances effectively. Daniel Maldini scored for the fourth straight Serie A game, but Pisacane stood by his team’s resilience against a star-studded Juventus lineup.

• Pisacane on defense: "Sometimes people focus on the number of shots we concede, but that’s within expectations for a team like ours."
• He added: "We allow shots because our players commit fully, putting themselves in the way of danger. That fighting spirit is what I admire."

Cagliari Remain Above Juventus in Serie A Table

The draw keeps Cagliari ahead of Juventus in the Serie A standings after six rounds, continuing their impressive run of four wins in six matches. Pisacane praised his players for following the game plan while reminding them not to lose focus for the remainder of the season.

"Right now, I want us to keep our heads up and stay alert," Pisacane said.
