Djed Spence Set for Inter Debut Against Parma

Djed Spence is still waiting for his first touch of the ball in an Inter shirt, but the wait is almost over.

The English full-back, signed from Tottenham in the summer for €35m, is expected to be available when Serie A restarts in October, with his debut likely to come at San Siro against Parma on October 10.

Rather than being thrown straight into the mix, the 26-year-old has been working on a tailored programme, training away from the main group to rebuild his match fitness.

The images of him in Atlanta in mid-July, shutting down Argentina attacks in a World Cup semi-final, already feel a world away from the quieter grind of Appiano Gentile. But that semi-final effort also explains why Inter have treated him with caution. His summer never really stopped.

According to Gazzetta, that isolation period is almost at an end. Spence will continue to train separately this week before rejoining the squad next week, just as Inter’s rhythm begins to pick up again after the international break.

Chivu’s schedule and Spence’s window

Cristian Chivu has given his players a full week off, a rare pause in a packed calendar. Those not involved with their national teams will report back for group training on Monday, when the tempo will rise and the focus will turn fully to Parma.

That is when Spence’s real Inter life starts.

By then, he is expected to be integrated into full sessions, finally stepping out of the rehab bubble and into the competitive fight for places. The plan is clear: have him ready, sharp and selectable for the first game back, under the lights at San Siro.
