Serge Gnabry Champions Harry Kane for Ballon d'Or Ahead of Bayern vs Arsenal Clash

Serge Gnabry, winger for Bayern Munich, has voiced strong support for his teammate Harry Kane to win this year's Ballon d'Or. The praise comes just before their Champions League meeting with Arsenal, Kane's former club.

Kane's Outstanding Season

The England captain has had a remarkable year, scoring 61 goals last season that helped Bayern secure the Bundesliga title and leading England to the World Cup semi-finals against Argentina. This season, Kane continues his form with nine goals and six assists in 10 matches across all competitions, including three goals in two Champions League games, helping Bayern stay level at the top of the Bundesliga alongside Borussia Dortmund.

Gnabry on Kane's Impact

"He's shown time and again how valuable he is. Since joining us, he's improved tremendously. An incredible player, very deserving. I don’t know who decides who wins the trophy, but he’s had an amazing year, still scoring lots of goals and vital to our team. I wish it for him; he deserves that trophy," Gnabry told TNT Sports.

He added that Kane sets a high standard with his calm demeanor and focused mindset, calling him "a calm through the storm" and praising his consistent goal-scoring.

Facing Former Club Arsenal

Gnabry will face Arsenal in the Champions League, the club he left in 2016 due to limited chances under Arsene Wenger. After moving to Werder Bremen and then Bayern, Gnabry now confronts Arsenal under manager Mikel Arteta, his former teammate. He acknowledged Arteta’s success in transforming Arsenal into title winners.

"It wasn't an easy project. For him to last so long and bring success, making them champions again, it's a huge achievement—maybe bigger than some by more famous coaches. I played for Arsenal, so I’m happy for them in some ways, but tomorrow I play for Bayern and we need to win," said Gnabry.

Looking Ahead to Ballon d'Or Ceremony

The Champions League match will be followed by the Ballon d'Or awards on Monday, October 26. Kane is expected to be a frontrunner for the prize and may also announce plans about his future at Bayern Munich, where his contract runs until summer 2027 but is likely to be extended.
