Orlando Pirates Dominate with 4–0 Victory
Orlando Pirates did not ease their way into this one. They tore into it.
From the first whistle, the intent was obvious: front foot, high tempo, no charity. By the 18th minute, the breakthrough arrived. Thapelo Mokobodi struck the opener, a goal that settled any early nerves and set the tone for what became a commanding afternoon. Pirates had their lead, and they never looked like giving it back.
The pressure kept building. Attacks came in waves, the opposition pinned deeper with every move. Just when it seemed they might escape to the interval only a goal down, the game tilted decisively. On the stroke of halftime, Evidence Makgopa made it 2–0 in the 45th minute, a finish that underlined Pirates’ superiority and changed the mood completely heading into the break.
If there was any doubt about the outcome, the second half wiped it away almost instantly.
Barely a minute after the restart, in the 47th, Mpho Padime added a third. Pirates came out as if it were still 0–0, pressing high, snapping into challenges, and Padime’s goal was the reward for that aggression. At 3–0, it stopped being a contest and became a statement.
The only question left was how ruthless they wanted to be.
They answered that in the 76th minute. Makgopa, already on the scoresheet, struck again to make it 4–0, completing a dominant display and turning a strong win into a rout. His second of the day capped a performance that blended control, confidence, and a cutting edge in the final third.
From the 1st-minute kick-off to the final whistle, Pirates controlled the rhythm and the scoreboard. Four goals, three different scorers, and a clean, emphatic message: when they play with this kind of conviction, they are a side nobody will want to face.
