Jose Mourinho Praises Kylian Mbappe’s Bold Panenka in Real Madrid's 4-1 Victory Over Sevilla

Jose Mourinho Applauds Mbappe After Dominant Win Against Sevilla

Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho expressed his delight following a commanding 4-1 victory over Sevilla, highlighting Kylian Mbappe's daring Panenka penalty as a standout moment. The French forward’s confident finish helped seal a night of impressive control at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Mbappe’s Memorable Brace and Panenka Penalty

Mbappe scored twice, the highlight being an audacious penalty early in the second half, which he won himself before softly chipping the goalkeeper. This chipped penalty came after a clever backheel assist from Jude Bellingham, adding flair to an already excellent performance by the French star.

Mourinho Proud of Team’s Tactical Mastery and Individual Quality

After the match, Mourinho praised the entire squad’s high level of play and tactical dominance throughout the game. He noted the team's total control from start to finish and complimented their quality goals and possession statistics against a tough Sevilla side.

"We controlled it from the first to the last minute and scored quality goals. We had a high percentage of possession... today it justified the dominance we had against a good team. It was a beautiful victory," Mourinho said.

Squad Depth and Rotation

Mourinho also spoke about his approach to squad rotation, emphasizing that meritocracy isn’t straightforward since many players deserve a chance. He acknowledged changing some elements while keeping logical consistency, praising the team’s creativity and ability to involve wide players effectively.

"Meritocracy is abstract because there’s no way to quantify which 11 players deserve it the most. Many people deserve to play," Mourinho explained. "We created a lot, got the ball to our wide players, and played a great game."

Looking Ahead Despite the Big Win

Despite the excitement of the win and Mbappe’s penalty, Mourinho remained focused on the challenges ahead. Real Madrid prepares for a UEFA Champions League clash against RB Leipzig before returning their attention to La Liga fixtures.
