Gleison Bremer Responds to Questions on Luciano Spalletti After Juventus' Heavy Defeat to Lazio
Bremer Talks After Juventus' 3-0 Loss to Lazio
Gleison Bremer, Juventus' centre-back, spoke openly about the team's struggles and the role of suspended manager Luciano Spalletti following their 3-0 home defeat against Lazio in Serie A.
Juventus Falter After Early Goal Against Them
The match at Allianz Stadium saw Juventus fall apart after conceding first in the 37th minute. Despite early promising attempts from Alajbegovic and Nick Woltemade, the team couldn’t respond once Oliver Provstgaard put Lazio ahead with a header.
The visitors extended their lead in the second half with goals by Gustav Isaksen and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, leaving Juventus unable to regain control. Manager Spalletti, suspended for the game, watched from the stands as his side lost composure.
Bremer Places Responsibility on Players, Supports Spalletti
When asked about whether Spalletti’s methods need adjustment, Bremer stressed that the players must accept responsibility for their performance. He said, "The coach gives indications, but we are the ones who need to put it into action on the field."
He added that the goal conceded early created frustration among the squad, saying, "We had chances and played well until their goal, so the fact they scored at their first chance created a real sense of frustration in us. That is something we need to sort out immediately."
Frustration and Confidence Issues Weigh on Juventus
Bremer acknowledged that Lazio’s clinical finishing affected the team’s confidence and disrupted their tactical discipline. He remarked, "We've got to analyse our mistakes and immediately get back on track, because there’s no time for anything else."
He also mentioned trying to motivate teammates but noted differences in character within the squad: "I try to give a hand, I talk to them... We can push them to a certain point, but that’s all. Some have more character than others."
Juventus Face Pressure to Rebound Quickly
With Juventus slipping down the Serie A table and trailing leaders by eight points, the team needs urgent self-reflection. Spalletti and his staff will review player performances ahead of upcoming matches.
The next games on Juventus' schedule include:
- Europa League: 22 Oct 2026 vs Rennes at 19:45
- Serie A: 24 Oct 2026 vs Paris Saint-Germain at 21:45
The Biancocelesti aim to regain mental strength and consistency before their next league outings.
