Flavio Cobolli Shares Insights on Practice with Jannik Sinner Ahead of His Return

Jannik Sinner Nears Return at China Open

Jannik Sinner looks set to make his comeback to tennis soon. Reports indicate he will compete at the China Open in Beijing next week, defending the title he won before his injury. The Italian star has been sidelined since his victory over Alexander Zverev in the 2026 Wimbledon final due to a knee injury.

Although Sinner still holds the top spot in the ATP rankings, Alexander Zverev’s recent US Open win has brought him within 2000 points of overtaking Sinner. If results favor Zverev by season’s end, he could claim the world number one position.

Training Session with Flavio Cobolli

Sinner has been preparing in Monte Carlo, where he recently practiced alongside fellow Italian Flavio Cobolli. Cobolli, who finished runner-up at Roland Garros this year, is currently in London for the Laver Cup, representing Team Europe.

Before the event, Cobolli spoke to Super Tennis TV about training with Sinner. “We joked around a lot,” he said. “It was really nice to see him back on the court. Whenever I get the chance, I try to make the most of the time we spend playing together. He teaches me a lot; I’m always eager to train with him.” Cobolli, 24, has enjoyed his best season in 2026.

Laver Cup Details

This marks Cobolli’s third consecutive Laver Cup appearance, having debuted in 2024 when Team Europe prevented Team World from winning three titles in a row. On the first day, Cobolli won’t play, but a notable doubles match will feature Carlos Alcaraz and Jakub Mensik against Alexander Bublik and Taylor Fritz.

Team Europe is captained by Yannick Noah with Tim Henman as vice captain, while Andre Agassi leads Team World with Pat Rafter as his deputy.
