Endrick Open to January Exit After Leading Real Madrid's Thrilling 4-3 Champions League Win Over Roma
Endrick Considers January Departure Despite Heroics Against Roma
Endrick has openly acknowledged the possibility of leaving Real Madrid during the January transfer window, even after his inspiring performance in a 4-3 comeback victory against Roma in the Champions League. The young Brazilian striker entered as a substitute and played a key role in overturning a two-goal deficit in Rome.
A Substitute Sparks a Dramatic Turnaround
Coming off the bench at the 58th minute for Vinicius Junior with Madrid trailing 3-1, Endrick changed the momentum of the match. Roma had taken the lead through Marten de Roon and a Donyell Malen brace. Endrick’s saved header led to Carlos Esposito scoring in the 83rd minute, reigniting hope. He then nodded in Arda Guler’s corner before Antonio Rudiger clinched a stoppage-time winner for Los Blancos.
Unexpected Early Call-Up
Before this impactful cameo, Endrick had made only one competitive appearance all season. Reflecting on his early substitution, he told reporters, "I’m very happy. It was a tough match. I was on the bench, just thankful to be here. When the coach called me on so early, I was surprised because I hadn’t played here in a while. I had a lot of hunger, and that’s what I brought, and I did well."
He also shared tactical advice from manager Jose Mourinho in an interview with TNT Sports Brasil: "He told me to enjoy myself and mark their number three. That’s exactly what I did."
Future Uncertain but Grateful to Mourinho
Endrick, who returned from a loan spell at Lyon and is contracted with Real Madrid until June 2030, has attracted interest from Serie A clubs AC Milan and Roma. Reports from ESPN reveal that club president Florentino Perez and the board are against allowing an early exit. Mourinho wants to give the youngster more first-team chances.
Addressing the rumors about his future and his relationship with Mourinho, Endrick said: "I take it day by day. If I have to leave in January, I’ll leave; if I have to stay, I’ll stay. I will do whatever God puts in my heart. I’m very grateful to Mourinho. He’s one of the first coaches who has genuinely spoken to me. I trust him with open arms. While I’m here, my job isn’t just to play for the manager to win but for Real Madrid. Because of everything he’s doing for me, I’m going to fight for him and for Real."
Mourinho Rejects January Transfer Rumors
On the eve of the Roma match, Mourinho dismissed any talk of Endrick leaving mid-season. Speaking to TNT Sports, he stated: "Forget it, forget it. Forget any interested clubs. They better sit down or they’ll get tired waiting. He’s a player I love, with incredible potential. He’s very important to us. Anyone interested in him will face a serious fight with me because I believe he doesn’t need to go out on loan and will achieve tremendous success here."
Opportunity Awaits After Vinicius Suspension
Endrick’s chance to cement a starting spot may come sooner than expected following Vinicius Junior’s four-match domestic ban after his sending-off against Villarreal. This suspension could see the 20-year-old lead the attack when Real Madrid hosts Sevilla on October 18. He could also feature prominently in the upcoming Champions League match against RB Leipzig three days later and the high-pressure El Clasico clash with Barcelona on October 24, where his goal-scoring instincts will be crucial.
