Dani Gibson Signs New Deal with Somerset Until 2028

Somerset have locked in one of their key modern anchors, with England all-rounder Dani Gibson signing a new deal that keeps her at the club until the end of the 2028 season.

At 25, Gibson already feels like a senior figure. She has featured eight times for Somerset across the last two campaigns, scoring 262 runs with a highest score of 77, and giving the side a hardened international edge in the middle order.

The numbers with England underline why Somerset were so keen to extend her stay. Gibson has played six One-Day and 35 T20 Internationals, scoring 722 runs and taking 21 wickets, a genuine dual threat in white-ball cricket and exactly the kind of presence domestic squads fight to keep.

Significance of the Deal

Somerset head coach Erin Osborne made no attempt to hide the significance of the deal.

"Any opportunity that we have to get Dani back into our environment is always a positive one," Osborne said. "She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience which you just can't buy.

"We've got a really young group, so any chance they get to spend time around players like Dani and learn from her is a really good one."
