Brad Young's Hat-Trick Propels TNS to Top Spot
Brad Young walked off with the match ball and The New Saints walked away with another statement win, dismantling struggling Ammanford to reinforce their grip on the Cymru Premier summit.
Young’s hat-trick led a merciless display from the champions, who tore into opponents rooted in the lower reaches of the table. Rhys Hughes helped himself to a brace, while Dynel Simeu, Isaac Jeffries, Jack Bodenham and Jordan Williams all joined the scoring spree in a one-sided rout that underlined the gulf between the sides.
Unbeaten and unrelenting, TNS now sit nine points clear at the top. The picture is far less comfortable for Ammanford, who slip to 14th and face a long winter if results like this continue.
Bradley sparks Caernarfon as Briton Ferry beaten
At Caernarfon, the damage was done early. Sion Bradley and Harry Charsley struck before the interval to put the hosts firmly in control, their sharpness in the final third setting the tone for a composed home performance.
Charsley doubled his tally after the break to kill off any realistic hope of a comeback, though Luke Bowen did pull one back late on for Briton Ferry with a consolation that barely softened the blow.
The win keeps Caernarfon steady in fourth, right in the mix behind the runaway leaders. Briton Ferry, meanwhile, remain 11th, their position unchanged but their margin for error shrinking.
Airbus fight back to climb above Cardiff Met
In south Wales, Airbus showed steel. Trailing 2-0 to Cambrian after goals from Jarrad Wright and Joshua Beecher, they looked in real trouble as half-time approached.
Then the mood shifted. George Peers struck just before the break to drag Airbus back into it, and the visitors came out transformed. Kaiden Cooke levelled shortly after the restart, swinging the momentum completely. Cambrian, who had controlled much of the first half, suddenly found themselves hanging on.
The pressure told again as Peers grabbed his second to complete the turnaround and seal a hard-fought win. The result lifts Airbus into seventh, nudging them above Cardiff Met, while Cambrian stay ninth and will rue how a comfortable lead slipped away.
Snaith at both ends as Colwyn Bay’s perfect home run ends
At Colwyn Bay, Cardiff Met’s Sam Snaith experienced the full spectrum of emotions in one afternoon.
He first gave the Students the lead before the interval, finishing to silence the home crowd and put Colwyn Bay’s 100% home record under real threat. After the break, though, that same name was on everyone’s lips for a very different reason as Snaith turned the ball into his own net, handing the hosts a route back into the game.
The turnaround seemed complete when Sam Hart scored directly from a corner, a vicious delivery that flew straight in to give Colwyn Bay the lead for the first time. The home record looked safe again.
Cardiff Met refused to fold. With 17 minutes left, Jasper Payne found the equaliser, levelling the contest and dragging his side out of a tight spot on a tricky away day.
By the final whistle, Colwyn Bay’s perfect home record had gone, but their league position remained intact in fifth. Cardiff Met slipped a place to eighth, left to ponder how a day that began with promise and chaos for Snaith ended with just a point and a drop down the table.
