Concern Grows at Bayern Munich Over Vincent Kompany's Health
Concern is growing at Bayern Munich after head coach Vincent Kompany was taken to a Munich hospital by ambulance on Friday, following an incident at the club’s Säbener Straße training ground.
German outlet Bild reported that an ambulance transported the 40-year-old to hospital, with a helicopter having landed at the training base earlier in the day. The presence of the helicopter added to the sense of alarm around the club, even before confirmation that Kompany had left the facility for medical treatment.
Sky Germany, via Bayern-focused outlet @iMiaSanMia, later reported that Kompany had collapsed after the day’s training session. Medical staff reacted immediately and he was taken away by ambulance. No official details have yet been released on the cause of the collapse or the exact nature of his condition.
The concern is sharpened by Kompany’s recent health issues. In the build-up to Bayern’s Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal, he had been struggling with a severe illness, reported to be a viral infection, as well as a hip problem. Despite that, he was cleared to return to the bench for Wednesday night’s 2-2 draw against the Premier League side.
Now Bayern are preparing for Sunday’s Bundesliga fixture against SC Freiburg with their coach’s status uncertain. The club has not confirmed whether Kompany will be available on the touchline, or even involved at all, as he undergoes further assessment.
For Bayern supporters, the league table and team selection are secondary at this point. The priority is Kompany’s health and well-being, and there is a clear hope that the situation is not serious and that he is receiving the care he needs.
As things stand, there is no confirmed information on the reasons behind his hospitalization or how long he might be absent. More updates are expected once the club or medical staff are in a position to clarify the situation surrounding the Bayern head coach.
