Millwall's Firm Stance on Femi Azeez Amid Brighton Interest

Millwall have drawn a clear line in the sand over Femi Azeez – £15m, or he stays.

Brighton have tested that resolve twice in recent weeks, lodging bids just north of £10m for the winger, whose emergence as one of the Championship’s most dangerous attackers has not gone unnoticed on the south coast. Both offers have been rejected, with the gap between the clubs still hovering around the £5m mark.

The player’s stance is no secret. The Nigeria international is understood to be keen on a move to the Amex Stadium, where his pace and direct running fit neatly into Brighton’s recruitment blueprint. For the Seagulls, he is not a speculative punt. He is regarded as one of their leading targets going into the final days before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Millwall, though, hold the contract and the leverage. They signed Azeez from Reading in 2024 for around £1m, a shrewd piece of business that now looks like one of the bargains of the division. He has 24 months left on his deal, enough time for the club to resist low-ball offers and insist on full value for a player who has transformed their attacking threat.

The numbers back that up. Azeez delivered 11 goals and 11 assists in 35 league games last season, a double-figure return in both columns that earned him a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Year. He has become the kind of wide forward Premier League clubs pay serious money for – quick, productive, and still with room to grow.

His recent absence from Millwall’s matchday squads only adds to the sense of a transfer in motion. Azeez has been left out of the last three games, a decision that inevitably fuels talk that the club are bracing for his departure. Millwall are said to be prepared to let him take the next step in his career, but only once their £15m valuation is met.

There is interest closer to home in the Championship. Wrexham have also been credited with an eye on the winger as they look to accelerate their own rise. Yet for Azeez, the priority is clear: a move to the Premier League.

So the situation sharpens. Brighton know the price. Millwall know the market. Azeez knows where he wants to be.
