Liverpool Eye January Move for Lamine Camara

Liverpool are weighing up a January move for Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, with the Senegal international emerging as a serious target after his dramatic deadline-day collapse at Chelsea.

The 22-year-old was on the brink of a switch to Stamford Bridge in the final hours of the summer window, only for Monaco to pull the plug late on. Camara had held detailed talks with Chelsea over his role and was ready to make the move, only for the Ligue 1 club to change course at the last moment.

That hesitation has reopened the door. Chelsea still like him, but they are no longer alone.

Liverpool circle as Camara price climbs

Liverpool have now discussed Camara internally and are understood to have explored the conditions of a potential January deal, according to Football Insider. The price, though, has shifted.

Where Chelsea thought they had an agreement worth around €55m (£47m, $63m), Monaco are now expected to demand closer to €70m (£60m, $81m). A near-€15m swing for a player who has yet to test himself in the Premier League, but one whose stock is clearly rising.

“Lamine Camara is a name that has been discussed behind the scenes,” Mick Brown told Football Insider, adding that Liverpool will be monitoring his performances for Monaco closely in the coming months. With his agent pushing hard for a move, the sense is that a deal is there to be done if a club steps up with the right offer in January.

Chelsea’s failure to close the deal first time around has left the door ajar. Liverpool, reshaping their midfield and always alert to high-upside talent in that age bracket, are now very much in the frame.

Left-back question brings Mitchell into focus

While the Camara situation develops, Liverpool’s recruitment team are also looking hard at the other end of the pitch.

Left-back has become a live discussion point. Milos Kerkez has faced scrutiny over his consistency, and Kostas Tsimikas is moving into the final months of his contract, still on the fringes and with no clear resolution over his future. It is a position that can quickly become a problem if not addressed early.

Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell has emerged as a possible solution. The 24-year-old has already been linked with Manchester United and is now being mentioned as a player under consideration at Anfield as well.

“Man United aren’t going to be the only club interested in signing Mitchell,” Brown said in a separate update. He pointed to Mitchell’s reliability for Palace, highlighting his defensive strength and the improvement in his attacking game. Week after week, he turns in solid performances in a side that often spends long spells without the ball.

For any Premier League club in need of a left-back, that kind of dependability is gold. Brown suggested that Liverpool’s doubts over Kerkez’s consistency could bring them into the race, while Chelsea are also expected to keep an eye on the situation as they look for value in the market without committing to another huge outlay.

Mitchell will not come cheap, and Palace are under no pressure to sell. But he fits the profile top clubs crave: homegrown, proven in the league, and still with room to grow.
