John Mousinho Expresses Fury Over Krystian Bielik Incident

John Mousinho says he was “absolutely furious” at the position he was placed in over the incident involving Krystian Bielik and a supporter during Portsmouth’s win over Cardiff City – and insists his initial post-match reaction was based on second-hand information, not what he saw himself.

The flashpoint came late in the second half as Cardiff defender Bielik went to collect the ball from the stands. A confrontation broke out with a fan in the crowd, drawing players and officials into a tense few moments that briefly overshadowed Portsmouth’s victory.

After the game, Mousinho apologised to Cardiff’s players and condemned the behaviour of the supporters involved, speaking in the immediate aftermath of what he believed had happened.

Since then, the picture has shifted.

Police confirmed they had opened an investigation into an incident “in which a teenage boy was reportedly the victim of a common assault”, while Mousinho has now had the chance to study footage of the clash.

Speaking to BBC Radio Solent ahead of Portsmouth’s match against Charlton on Saturday, the head coach made it clear his original comments were rooted entirely in what he had been told at the time.

“I’ve now seen the footage and my comments post-match were entirely based off what I was told,” he said.

“When the altercation kicked off I couldn’t see it from where I was myself, the referee then spoke to us and his words at the time were very clear that he had seen the incident in its entirety.

“He said that as Krystian went over to get the ball, the fan slapped him, and a second fan threw a ball at Perry Ng’s head.”

Those words framed Mousinho’s immediate response on Saturday. Now, with the video in front of him and a police investigation running alongside the football narrative, the incident sits under a harsher, more forensic light as Portsmouth prepare to move on to Charlton with the fallout still rumbling in the background.
