Bangladesh to Tour Nepal in 2027 for T20I Series

Cricket will carry a heavier meaning in Kathmandu in March 2027.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed on Wednesday that the men’s national team will tour Nepal for a three-match T20I series, with the entire tour dedicated to the victims of the recent devastating floods in the country.

All three games will be staged in Kathmandu, scheduled for 26, 28 and 30 March 2027.

Cricket with a purpose

This is not a routine bilateral series slotted into a crowded calendar. The BCB made it clear in its statement that the matches are designed to send “a message of friendship and solidarity at a time of great loss,” as Bangladesh stands alongside Nepal in the aftermath of the floods.

The idea of the tour had been building for some time. Cricbuzz had earlier reported that the BCB was working on plans to visit Nepal in 2027 after an invitation from the Nepal Cricket Association. That invitation has now turned into a concrete commitment.

Diplomacy meets cricket

The agreement took shape in Dhaka this week. Ghanshyam Bhandari, Ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh, visited the BCB headquarters on Wednesday and met BCB President Tamim Iqbal. The proposed tour and broader cricketing cooperation between the two nations dominated the discussions.

Bhandari’s meeting with Tamim followed talks with State Minister for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Md Aminul Haque, where the initial groundwork for the T20I series was laid. From there, the plan moved quickly from diplomatic conversation to confirmed fixture list.

Beyond one series

The BCB’s statement did not stop at announcing three T20Is. It carried a wider promise.

Bangladesh assured the Nepal Cricket Association of continued cooperation in the broader development of cricket in Nepal. That commitment spans exchange tours for both men’s and women’s teams, High Performance programmes, training and technical support, and other development initiatives aimed at players and cricket personnel from both countries.

For Nepal, still growing its footprint in international cricket, this kind of structured support from a Full Member board offers more than just marquee fixtures. For Bangladesh, it is a chance to deepen regional ties and use its cricketing infrastructure to lift a neighbour in need.

In March 2027, the scorecards will tell one story. The backdrop will tell another.
