Arsenal's Kai Havertz Faces Hamstring Injury During Germany's Match Under Klopp
Havertz Injury Adds to Arsenal's Troubles
Kai Havertz, Arsenal's forward, is set for a medical scan after a suspected hamstring injury sustained while playing for Germany in Jurgen Klopp's first game as national team coach against the Netherlands. The injury occurred during a UEFA Nations League match that ended 1-1.
Klopp’s Debut Marred by Injury and Draw
Klopp’s start as Germany manager was overshadowed by the injury to Havertz, who left the pitch in the 32nd minute after a tough challenge from Quinten Timber. Felix Nmecha scored first for Germany, but a stoppage-time goal from Cody Gakpo denied them the win. This match also saw Jamal Musiala withdraw before kickoff due to an injury, adding to the team's woes.
Two Key German Attacking Players Hurt
Both Havertz and Bayern Munich's Musiala suffered injuries on the same day. Havertz needed on-field treatment before Younes Eboutalib replaced him. Musiala had to pull out during warm-up because of a thigh problem. Klopp commented on RTL about their condition:
"Both are currently undergoing an MRI. I hope we get the diagnosis this evening (Thursday). But of course, this isn’t great. I hope it’s nothing serious. The lads are probably out for us. But hopefully, they’ll be back in action relatively quickly."
Arsenal’s Growing List of Injuries
Mikel Arteta faces mounting concerns with key players missing during the international break. Arsenal have lost Declan Rice and Marli Salmon from England squads. Additionally, Jurrien Timber wasn’t included in the Netherlands lineup for precautionary reasons related to past injuries. Havertz’s injury deepens the problem for Arteta as he awaits MRI results.
Upcoming Fixtures and Impact
Germany is scheduled to play Greece twice and Serbia once in upcoming UEFA Nations League matches. Klopp’s comments suggest Havertz and Musiala might miss these games. For Arsenal, attention turns to the Premier League clash against Leeds United on October 10. The club hopes the hamstring injury won’t keep Havertz sidelined for long.
