Galatasaray Signs Deniz Gul in Dramatic Transfer Deal

Galatasaray waited until the final stretch of the window to make their move, then struck with conviction. Turkish international striker Deniz Gul has completed a switch from FC Porto to the reigning Super Lig champions in a deal worth 10 million euros, sealed just before the transfer deadline.

The 22-year-old arrived in Istanbul in fittingly dramatic fashion. A private jet touched down at Ataturk Airport on 1 September 2026, and as Gul emerged, club officials and a cluster of passionate supporters were already in full voice. He will earn a guaranteed net annual salary of 1.5 million euros during his stay in Istanbul.

Born and raised in Stockholm to a Turkish father and Swedish mother, Gul climbed through Sweden’s youth systems before making his name at Hammarby IF. His goals there did not go unnoticed. Porto moved in August 2024, tying him down on a contract through 2029 and pitching him into one of Europe’s most demanding development environments for young attackers.

His international journey has been just as deliberate. Gul represented Sweden at Under-19 level, but in November 2024 he chose Turkey for his senior future. That decision was quickly validated when national team manager Vincenzo Montella handed him a call-up for UEFA Nations League fixtures in March 2025. That work begins immediately. After leaving the airport, Gul headed straight for his medical examinations, which he has now completed. With the paperwork signed off, he will integrate at once into first-team training under the coaching staff at RAMS Park.

Galatasaray have not brought him in to simply make up the numbers. The squad needed fresh energy and depth in the forward line as they prepare to defend their domestic crown and navigate the demands of European competition. Gul’s profile fits the brief: physical presence, experience from a high-intensity Porto environment, and the mentality of a player who has already crossed borders and made hard career choices.
