Zeidane Inoussa Joins Portsmouth on Loan

Swansea winger Zeidane Inoussa is set to swap one promotion chase for another, with the 24-year-old poised to join Portsmouth on loan for the rest of the season.

It is a sharp change of direction for a player Swansea invested heavily in only last summer. Inoussa arrived from Swedish side BK Hacken for a significant fee, billed as a powerful, direct wide option who could grow with the club. Instead, his first year in Wales has been fractured and frustrating.

One goal in 29 appearances tells its own story. Injuries broke up his rhythm, minutes came in bursts rather than runs, and the former Sweden Under-21 international never quite imposed himself as a consistent starter. The talent was obvious; the impact, far less so.

Now the landscape at Swansea has shifted again.

Moussa Yeo and Joseph Opoku have already walked through the door this summer, adding pace and competition out wide. Jeremy Monga, the highly regarded Manchester City youngster, is expected to follow. With that kind of traffic building on the flanks, Inoussa has slipped from project to expendable.

Swansea are prepared to let him go and let Portsmouth take a closer look.

For Pompey, it is a calculated gamble. They know all about loan wingers from South Wales. Florian Bianchini spent time at Fratton Park last season and never really caught fire, a spell that underwhelmed both clubs and has left Swansea eager to move him on permanently as well.

This time, Portsmouth hope for something different: a wide man with Championship pedigree, still under a long contract at Swansea until 2030, arriving with a point to prove and a season to rescue.

There is more movement brewing on the wings at the Swansea.com Stadium. The club are open to trimming their wide options, and there has already been speculation over the future of Ronald, another attacker whose role suddenly looks less secure in a crowded department.

For Inoussa, though, the equation is simple. Regular football, a fresh crowd, and a chance to show why Swansea paid big money to bring him from Sweden.

If he catches light at Fratton Park, this loan will not just reshape his season. It could redefine his place in Swansea’s long-term plans.
