Harry Kane Wishes He Knew Ballon d’Or Result Before Ceremony as Bayern Striker Stays Calm

Harry Kane, the Bayern Munich striker, has revealed he wishes he could find out the Ballon d'Or winner before Monday’s ceremony in London. Despite being one of the favorites to win the award, the England captain remains unaware of the results as the prestigious event approaches.

Leading Contender for Prestigious Award

The 33-year-old forward, who scored an impressive 61 goals in 51 club games last season and helped England reach the World Cup semi-finals, could be the first English player to claim the trophy since Michael Owen in 2001. Alongside Kane on the 30-player shortlist are notable talents like Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi.

Kane’s European Scoring Run Continues

On Wednesday, Kane contributed both an assist and a penalty goal during Bayern's 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Champions League. This took his tally to 10 goals in 11 appearances this season, marking his 10th consecutive European match with a goal—just one shy of Cristiano Ronaldo’s record.

"They want everyone to go, all the big names there and there will be more people watching if they don’t know," Kane said after the game. "From my point of view, I’d love to know so I wouldn’t have to wait all night. But it is their decision, I can’t control that. We’ll have to enjoy it and try not to stress too much."

Blocking Out Rumors Amid New Rules

France Football, the award organizers, changed rules in 2024 to stop announcing winners early, though a leak that year caused Real Madrid to boycott after Vinicius Junior lost to Rodri. Kane admitted ignoring speculation is tough but necessary.

"I try not to think about it. There are always rumors flying around, so I focus on important games. We have one today and another on Sunday before the event on Monday," Kane shared. "I’m going to try and enjoy Monday night as much as possible. It’s a big occasion, so we just have to wait and see."

Upcoming Matches Before the Big Night

Before attending the awards in London, Kane must help Bayern defend their Bundesliga lead against Freiburg, currently third in the table. After a mixed start to their Champions League campaign, with one win and two draws, Bayern sits 14th in the group stage standings and needs to strengthen their domestic form.
