AI Predicts 2026 Formula 1 Drivers' Championship Standings
AI Forecasts the 2026 F1 Drivers' Championship as Season Nears Final Stretch
After 16 races into the 2026 Formula 1 season, Mercedes have clearly stood out. The German outfit adapted best to the new rules, winning the opening six races. George Russell claimed victory in Australia, while his teammate Kimi Antonelli took the next five wins across China, Japan, Miami, Canada, and Monaco.
Russell then secured his second win in Austria. Meanwhile, Antonelli added three more victories in Belgium, Italy, and Madrid, gaining a solid lead in the drivers' championship. Despite this, Russell narrowed the gap by winning the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton broke Ferrari’s drought by taking his first victory since 2024 at Barcelona, marking his debut win with the team. His teammate, Charles Leclerc, also earned a win at Silverstone.
Last year’s champion, Lando Norris, grabbed two wins during the season, triumphing in Hungary and Zandvoort consecutively.
With seven races remaining after Max Verstappen’s win at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, AI was asked to predict the full final drivers' standings for 2026. The results offer a fascinating glimpse at how the championship might conclude.

Key Driver Insights
Pierre Gasly has rebounded after a poor 2025, where he finished 18th with 22 points. This season, AI expects him to finish 10th with 62 points thanks to his consistency, even if Alpine is not front-running.
Liam Lawson appears ready to revive his career, predicted to place ninth with 100 points driving for Racing Bulls after a brief return to Red Bull during teammate Isack Hadjar’s injury absence.
Hadjar himself, despite missing three races due to a wrist injury, is forecasted to finish eighth with 156 points. He scored podiums and consistent top-six finishes before and after his break.
Oscar Piastri, tipped as a potential champion last year, suffered an uneven start to 2026 but remains strong with an expected seventh place and 217 points. Sharing the McLaren spotlight with Norris limits his chances of a title run.
Charles Leclerc has been steady, securing podiums and a win at Silverstone, yet AI suggests he won’t clinch the championship this year, settling sixth with 267 points.
Lando Norris will not defend his 2025 title successfully, predicted to finish fifth with 279 points. Despite two wins early in the season, a DNF in Baku hurts his hopes.
Lewis Hamilton has shown strength with Ferrari, picking up wins and podiums, but AI places him fourth with 292 points, citing shared team points with Leclerc as a factor holding him back.
George Russell began strongly, winning in Australia, but inconsistent results and DNFs have likely ended his title bid. AI projects third place with 312 points.
Max Verstappen experienced a slower season but has been back on the podium frequently, including a win in Malaysia. Still, AI predicts him second with 313 points, noting that without a dominant car, repeating his previous championships will be tough.
Kimi Antonelli leads with a commanding 428 points. Despite a rough rookie season, this 20-year-old has dominated 2026, becoming the second-youngest Grand Prix winner and consistently outperforming his veteran teammate.
