Ryan Ledson Receives Three-Match Ban and Fine for Misconduct
Huddersfield Town captain Ryan Ledson has been hit with a three-match ban and a £7,000 fine after admitting misconduct towards a match official.
The Football Association handed down the punishment after Ledson was found to have used abusive and/or insulting language in the tunnel area at half-time and again after the final whistle of Huddersfield’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on 10 October.
He was not in the matchday squad that night, but the incident still drew the attention of the authorities. Once charged, the 29-year-old accepted the allegation rather than contest it, clearing the way for the FA to confirm the suspension.
For Huddersfield, the timing is awkward. Ledson had only just returned to training after an elbow injury that has kept him out since 12 September, halting the momentum of a start to the season that brought six League One appearances.
Now, just as he edges back towards fitness, he will be unavailable again. The ban rules him out of upcoming fixtures against Wigan Athletic, Bradford City and Luton Town, depriving the Terriers of their captain on the pitch at a point in the campaign when leaders are usually most needed.
