Ryan Ledson Receives Three-Match Ban and Fine
Huddersfield Town captain Ryan Ledson has been hit with a three-match ban and a £7,000 fine after admitting misconduct towards a match official.
The Football Association confirmed the punishment after Ledson was charged with using abusive and/or insulting language in the tunnel area at half-time and again after the final whistle of Huddersfield’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on 10 October.
He was not in the matchday squad that night, but the incident still drew the attention of the authorities. Once the charge arrived, the 29-year-old accepted it and the case moved swiftly to sanction.
For Ledson, the timing could hardly be worse. The midfielder has already been sidelined since 12 September with an elbow injury, having made six League One starts this season. He had only just returned to training and was edging towards a comeback.
Now that return is on hold.
The suspension rules him out of upcoming fixtures against Wigan Athletic, Bradford City and Luton Town, denying Huddersfield their captain’s presence on the pitch at a stage of the season when leaders are supposed to steady the ship, not watch from the stands.
