Paris Saint-Germain's Bold XI Change for Lille Clash

Paris Saint-Germain head north on Friday night still searching for their first Ligue 1 win of the season, and Luis Enrique is ready to shake the tree.

A 2-2 draw at home to Rennes on the opening weekend has already tested the patience of the Parc des Princes. Defensive lapses, a lack of control in midfield, and the need for late heroics off the bench have pushed the coach toward a bolder, more experimental XI for the trip to Lille.

Enrique rips up his back line

The changes start in defence. Nuno Mendes is still sidelined and remains unavailable, but left-back will not be a simple like-for-like continuity call. Lucas Digne is expected to come in for Lucas Hernández, offering a more natural width on the flank and a different profile in possession.

The real jolt comes on the opposite side. Achraf Hakimi drops out, with Warren Zaïre-Emery set for a highly unusual role as an attacking right-back. It is a gamble: one of Europe’s most promising midfielders pushed into a hybrid position, tasked with driving play from deep while still covering the channel against a Lille side that love to spring forward quickly.

At the heart of defence, captain Marquinhos and Willian Pacho are due to continue as the central pairing in front of Matvei Safonov, who keeps his place in goal.

Midfield reshaped for control

The midfield balance also gets a tweak. Lucas Beraldo is expected to come in for Vitinha, a move that hints at Enrique’s desire for more bite and structure in the middle of the pitch after Rennes repeatedly found gaps between the lines.

Alongside Beraldo, João Neves and Fabián Ruiz should again form the core of the engine room. Neves will be asked to dictate tempo, Ruiz to knit play and arrive in advanced areas. The message is clear: fewer transitions, more control.

Dembélé rests, Torres rewarded

Up front, reputation gives way to form. Ousmane Dembélé is set to be rested, opening the door for Ferran Torres to make his full debut after his explosive impact off the bench last weekend, when he scored twice to salvage a point.

Torres is expected to start from the right of the front three, with Désiré Doué offering invention and dribbling threat and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia providing that familiar surge from the left. On paper, it is a front line rich in movement and technical quality, but also one that will demand sharp understanding in tight spaces against a disciplined Lille defence.
