One more assist would place him alongside Chris Burke, the last Kilmarnock player to create a goal in three consecutive Premiership appearances back in December 2018. That is the kind of company that matters in a side searching for anchors.

So the stage is set: a Dundee United team that cannot turn chances into goals, facing a Kilmarnock side that cannot turn goals into points. One chases efficiency, the other control. By full-time, one of these flawed starts may finally have a direction.
