Calvert-Lewin set to snub Man Utd with new Leeds contract

Leeds United are poised to land a major mid-season boost, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to sign a new contract at Elland Road – and in the process shut the door on Manchester United’s interest.

The 29-year-old England forward, a free transfer from Everton, has rebuilt his career in West Yorkshire. Twenty goals in 49 appearances for the Whites tell only part of the story; he has become the focal point of their attack, the reference point for every counter, every cross, every long ball under pressure.

His current deal runs to 2028, but Leeds have moved early. They know exactly what they have. A fit, confident Calvert-Lewin is hard to find and even harder to replace.

The timing bites for Manchester United. With Benjamin Sesko ruled out for an extended spell as he battles a shin injury, Old Trafford’s recruitment team had turned their gaze firmly towards Elland Road. Calvert-Lewin was high on the list as a January solution: Premier League proven, physically ready, and available without a bedding-in period.

That door is now closing.

For United, it’s a setback in a window where margins will be thin and options limited. For Leeds, it’s a statement. They are not a selling club by default anymore, not when it comes to their main striker.

Calvert-Lewin’s new deal won’t just protect his value. It anchors Leeds’ plans for the next phase of their project – and forces Manchester United to start their centre-forward search all over again.
